Ballast
In the English language, the term "ballast" is used in many contexts and industries, but always is speaking of something that provides stability. In terms of electricity, or lighting, a ballast is a device, often a resistor, that maintains the current in a circuit at a constant value by varying its resistance in order to counteract changes in voltage. |
